Training Course

 

HAZWOPER is a multiple hour course based upon the level of training.  This extremely flexible program can help employers meet OSHA and other federal and state regulatory requirements for training employees how to safely handle all types of hazardous materials/wastes incidences.

 

“HAZWOPER” covers the following 5 types of operations:

1.         Clean-up operations required by a governmental body, whether federal, state, local or other involving hazardous substances that are conducted at uncontrolled hazardous waste sites.

2.       Corrective actions involving clean-up operations at sites covered by the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act of 1978 (RCRA).

3.       Voluntary clean-up operations at sites recognized by federal, state, local or other governmental bodies at uncontrolled hazardous waste sites.

4.       Operations involving hazardous wastes that are conducted at treatment, storage and disposal facilities (TSDF’s) regulated by 40 CFR Parts 264-265 pursuant to RCRA; or by agencies under agreement with USEPA to implement RCRA regulations.

5.    Emergency response operations for releases of, or substantial threats of releases of, hazardous substances without regard to location of the hazard.

 

“Levels of Training” and Length of Class:

1.                     First Responder Awareness Level 4-hours – identifies and initiates a response.

2.                   First Responder Operations Level 8-hours – defensive fashion, contain the release from a safe distance. 

3.                   Hazardous Material Technician 28-hours– offensive fashion to the point of patching, plugging – stops release. 

4.                   Hazardous Materials Specialist 28-hours – responds and supports the Technician. 

5.                   Incident Commander 28-hours.

6.                   Annual Refresher Training – 8-hours.
